Express Employment Professionals is recruiting for a Senior Technical Lead (Project Manager / Network Engineer III) to support a network systems contract in Missoula. This role is ideal for an experienced IT professional who excels at balancing project management responsibilities with advanced network engineering expertise.


As the primary point of contact for the contract, you will provide leadership, technical guidance, and strategic planning while overseeing network operations, budgeting, security compliance, and infrastructure support. This position is primarily onsite and requires availability to assist with after-hours support and emergency situations when necessary.

Position Overview


The Senior Technical Lead will serve as the primary technical resource and contract lead, overseeing daily operations, supporting network infrastructure, and helping guide technology initiatives and future improvements. This role combines project management, budgeting, compliance oversight, and advanced Tier III network support.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the primary point of contact for the contract and provide oversight for supporting team members.
• Advise organizational leadership on technology strategies, infrastructure planning, and system improvements.
• Develop cost estimates and assist with budgeting and procurement planning for system upgrades and new technology initiatives.
• Support security and compliance initiatives, including ATO and POA&M requirements.
• Perform advanced Tier III network troubleshooting, analysis, and design.
• Provide day-to-day network administration and operational support.
• Respond to critical incidents and assist with after-hours or emergency technical support as needed.
• Monitor network performance and recommend improvements to increase reliability, security, and efficiency.
• Identify risks and proactively communicate recommendations and mitigation strategies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Strong background in both IT project management and network engineering.
• Ability to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
• Proven ability to identify, assess, and communicate risks early and effectively.
• Experience serving as a lead technical resource on complex projects.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of technical accuracy and professionalism.

Preferred Certifications

• Cisco Certified Field Technician (CCFT)
• CompTIA Security+
• CompTIA Network+

Requirements

• Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a USDA LincPass (Government Identification Badge) .
• Must be able to work primarily onsite in Missoula, MT.
• Must be available to provide after-hours and emergency support when necessary.
