Shift Type: Nights, 12-hour shifts, 6:45 PM - 7:15 AM, every other weekend, rotating holidays, self-scheduling available

Candidate Pay Rate: $73.50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver expert critical care to surgical ICU patients recovering from complex vascular, thoracic, and abdominal procedures
• Monitor and interpret EKG strips and telemetry, acting quickly on any change in condition
• Manage ventilators, CRRT, and ECMO support alongside a collaborative intensivist and hospitalist team
• Perform thorough patient assessments and bedside reporting that keeps the whole care team on the same page
• Handle line placements and post operative recoveries including fem-pop, EVAR, VAT, and open belly surgeries
• Partner with charge nurses, safety attendants, respiratory therapy, and 24/7 pharmacy to keep every shift running smoothly
• Float to other Sacramento facilities when needed and adapt confidently to a new unit
• Jump in for extra shifts and trade with teammates through the self-scheduling system

Qualifications

• Active California RN license in good standing
• 2 or more years of ICU experience, with surgical ICU background strongly preferred
• Experience with CEA, fem-pop, EVAR, laparotomies, and thoracic surgery patients
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications through AHA
• Comfortable with Cerner charting and reading EKG strips
• Two supervisory references required at submittal, one within the last 12 months and one within the last 3 years
• Copy of your driver's license at submittal so your legal name matches your profile exactly
• Candidates must not have been directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity facilities within the past year
• DYS exam through UNA completed prior to signing the contract, with results submitted within 24 to 48 hours

Education

• Trauma Level: 2
• Charting System: Cerner
• Unit Notes: need 2 sup refs from modality submitting to (charge accepted) at submittal
• 1 w/in 12 mo. & 1 w/in 3 years worked
• Copy of the DL is needed at time of submittal to validate legal name - Pulse must reflect the name on a gov't issued ID - no middle initial or middle name

Knowledge & Skills

• ICU nursing with a strong critical care foundation
• Telemetry monitoring and EKG strip interpretation
• Comprehensive patient assessment and bedside reporting
• Ventilator management and respiratory support
• CRRT and ECMO experience
• Surgical ICU and postoperative vascular and thoracic care
• Cerner electronic medical record proficiency
• BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certified practice
• Teamwork with charge nurses, intensivists, and hospitalists
