Responsibilities Execute day-to-day Center operational procedures to provide a cost-effective, safe, welcoming, and clean environment. Monitor facilities and equipment; enforce sanitary and food-handling guidelines. Engage with Center visitors and serve as a subject matter expert on amenities, tours, classes, programs, and services. Troubleshoot and resolve issues; may direct and manage vendors. Assist with budget-aligned operations, inventory management, cash handling, and reporting. Provide data for financial, operational, and statistical reports as requested; prepare ad hoc reports as required. Create and maintain an SOP file detailing local procedures and Center activities for prompt reporting and smooth operations. Plan, oversee, and assist in executing operational areas such as programs, logistics, inventory, budget, social media, and database management as directed by Center leadership. Assist with communications and awareness for operations and programs. Prepare announcements, stories, and photos for social media, local media, and website publications in line with USO media guidelines. Deliver or assist in planning and evaluating new and existing USO programs and events on and off installations; coordinate all functions and assets to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. Assist in reviewing program and service needs; research and implement new programs or changes as directed. Develop and maintain relationships with the U.S. Military, local community leaders, partners, donors, and media to support program delivery. Coordinate with staff to ensure resources, volunteers, materials, and supplies are available for programs and events; oversee volunteer participation. Communicate with volunteers about shifts, policy changes, development opportunities, and maintain reports related to hours, applications, and status. Direct prospective volunteers through the application process; coordinate on-the-job training; recognize volunteers; submit nominations as appropriate. May be required to operate a USO or personal vehicle. Perform other duties as assigned, including backfilling for leadership roles. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. 2+ years in event management, marketing, retail, customer service, recreation facility, or related roles. Non-profit, military, multicultural, or global organization experience preferred. Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; able to interact with USO leadership, the public, and military audiences with integrity and professionalism. Proficiency with computers and software; experience with volunteer management software and social media platforms; Digital Cheetah experience preferred. Ability to handle confidential information with tact; demonstrate initiative, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects. Ability to work non-standard hours as needed; willingness to obtain and maintain credentials to access USO centers (security, background checks, SOFA status, driver’s license). General knowledge of the military community preferred; ability to obtain a valid U.S. passport and foreign driver’s license where applicable. Strong advocacy for the USO’s mission.
