JOB SUMMARY
HealthRIGHT 360, a nonprofit organization and a family of programs, is committed to providing accessible
and comprehensive healthcare services to vulnerable populations. Our mission is to tackle systemic
barriers to healthcare and promote health equity for all. We offer a wide range of services, including
mental health care, residential and outpatient substance use treatment, and primary health services.
Additionally, we provide transitional support for individuals re-entering the community after involvement
in the criminal justice system. By integrating physical and behavioral health, we empower individuals to
overcome challenges by addressing social determinants of health, fostering resilience, and facilitating
recovery.

The Women's Recovery Association (WRA) provides a comprehensive continuum of care including
residential treatment programs, professional clinical services, and community peer support. WRA's
individualized and integrated clinical services are designed to address the complexity of women's needs.
The clinical program is the core of every treatment plan for women in the residential program. This
includes individual and family counseling, group therapy, and educational groups that focus on women's
recovery from substance use disorder and related addictive behaviors, such as eating disorders and
nicotine dependence.

The SUD Counselor II is an integral part of an interdisciplinary team that supports our clients through
assessment of their needs and strengths in support of their health and recovery. SUD Counselor II will
perform counseling in individual and group setting, deliver curricula in accordance with program specific
requirements and case management, and assist clients in navigating systems of care while providing a
supportive treatment environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Maintain an assigned caseload of up to 25 clients, depending on the facility staffing pattern and
business needs, and provide individualized weekly counseling.
• Facilitate group counseling sessions, community meetings, and teach classes on various
treatment-related topics to assist clients in meeting their treatment goals.
• Perform crisis intervention and communicate with treatment team as unforeseen situations arise.
• Properly document all group counseling sessions and all individual sessions as needed within 24-
72 hours per contract requirements.
• Must meet residential service delivery goal of 60%.
• Proactively link clients to both internal and external resources based on their treatment needs.
• Follow up on the progress or status of clients' treatment.
• Document client updates and incidents daily.
• Maintain safety and security of the clients in the facility by performing periodic house runs.
• Ensure client medications are securely stored and properly accounted for as needed.
• Monitor and document client administration of medication.
• Assign client duties and sign off upon completion.
• As needed, accompany clients to offsite appointments related to their treatment.
• Collaborate with client and other internal and external resources to develop or maintain problem
lists and/or treatment plans, transition plans, progress notes, and appropriate updates in support
of their health and recovery.
• Complete discharge paperwork/process and other required agency assessments in a timely
manner.
• Support intake process such as preparing rooms and maintaining supplies.
• Perform property and room searches as needed.
• Respond to overdose and other medical emergencies.
• Perform tests for substance use such as urinalysis and breathalyzer.
• Observe clients every 30 minutes and document on observation log, per program requirements.
• Collect, clean, or dispose of biohazard waste.
• Disinfect and clean rooms and common areas as needed.
• Accurately enter data in various electronic systems for all clients in accordance with guidelines
established by HealthRIGHT 360 to satisfy internal and external evaluating requirements.
• Read and respond to emails, calls, and Teams messages in a timely manner.
• Complete assigned training as needed and as required by the due date.
• Attend and actively participate in meetings.
• Plan and facilitate celebrations and special events.
• Work on weekends and holidays as needed.
• Assist with onboarding of new hires and training or mentoring of new and existing employees,
interns, or ambassadors.
And perform other duties as assigned.


QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Certification, Licensure
• High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in health and human services,
social work, psychology, or other related field preferred.
• Must be registered as an Alcohol and Other Drug Counselor or as an SUD Counselor with CA
approved certifying agency (CCAPP, CADTP, or CAADE).
• Current First Aid and CPR certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
Experience
• Minimum of one year of experience as registered substance abuse or behavioral disorder
counselor or recovery specialist in community mental health.
• Some experience carrying a caseload preferred.
