Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (ICU) is responsible for delivering skilled nursing care to critically ill patients in the Intensive Care Unit. This role involves patient assessments, medication administration, treatment planning, and close collaboration with the interdisciplinary healthcare team. The nurse must maintain strong communication skills and provide high-quality care in a fast-paced environment. A minimum of two years ICU experience and relevant certifications are required. Responsibilities:

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to ICU patients, including monitoring vital signs and patient status.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed and monitor patient responses.
• Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
• Collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care and clinical observations.
• Assist with emergency interventions and respond to patient emergencies promptly.
• Participate in patient and family education regarding care plans and treatment.
• Float to other units as required to support hospital needs.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in New York State.
• Minimum of 2 years ICU nursing experience.
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification.
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification.
• Charge nurse experience highly preferred.
• Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration abilities.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience working in a fast-paced critical care environment.
• Previous charge nurse or leadership experience.
• Familiarity with electronic medical record systems.

Special Considerations:

• Must hold current New York RN license at the time of hire.
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• Floating to other units within the hospital is mandatory.
• Must be located within a 75-mile radius of the hospital.
• First-time travel nurses may be considered.

Scheduling:

• ICU shifts with a 2-3 patient ratio.
• Weekend shifts scheduled every other weekend.
• Shift assignments may include day, evening, or night based on unit needs.
