Job Overview – Licensed School Counselor (LCSW/LMHC/LMSW) Compensation: $68 – $76/hour Location: New York, NY Schedule: Full-Time, Part-Time, or Per Diem (School Schedule) TAG MedStaffing is hiring Licensed School Counselors (LCSW/LMHC/LMSW) in New York, NY to support students in school-based counseling and mental health settings for the upcoming school year. This role offers flexible placement options across Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, the Bronx, and Staten Island based on preference . You will provide individual and group counseling, support IEP-aligned goals, and help students build the social, emotional, and behavioral skills needed to succeed in the classroom. Responsibilities as the Licensed School Counselor: Counseling Support: Provide individual and group counseling services to students with social, emotional, behavioral, and mental health needs. Student Development: Support students with coping skills, emotional regulation, peer relationships, and classroom readiness. IEP & Care Coordination: Collaborate with school teams, providers, and families to support IEP goals, intervention plans, and student progress. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate counseling notes, progress updates, and required documentation in alignment with school‑based requirements. Qualifications for the Licensed School Counselor: Education: Master’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Mental Health Counseling, or a related field is required. Licensure: Active New York State LCSW, LMHC, or LMSW is required. Certification: New York State School Counselor certification is preferred. Experience: Prior school‑based counseling, student support, behavioral health, or mental health experience is preferred. Skills & Attributes: Demonstrates strong communication, documentation, collaboration, and the ability to support students in a structured school environment.
