Hourly: $11.50 - $11.50 Department: Operations FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Store Manager SUMMARY The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall operations and administrative duties. They are knowledgeable in each product area, help achieve store goals, uphold policies and visual standards, promote sales and promotions, and serve as an ambassador of Hibbett I City Gear to create unique customer experiences. The Manager in Training assumes supervisory control when the Store Manager is absent and is trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist the Store Manager in controlling the assets of Hibbett I City Gear. Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for departmental and overall store responsibilities, including selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, and scheduling. Assume responsibility for the entire store when the Store Manager is absent. Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across all departments when needed. Stay aware of inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to ensure profitability. Direct staff to ensure each department’s responsibilities and standards are completed. Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends. Ensure quality customer service is maintained. Perform general administrative duties as needed and remain trained in the Store Manager’s responsibilities. Produce and provide extraordinary customer service as highlighted in the customer service manual, including assisting customers upon entry and during peak periods. Promote and sell services and merchandise offered by Hibbett I City Gear. Practice and uphold all Hibbett I City Gear policies, procedures, and standards listed in the operations policy manual, personnel policy manual, visual manual, customer service manual, and company memos. Protect the company’s assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures, and report potential fraud risks to management. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise employees in the absence of the Store Manager. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Conduct interviews, train employees, plan, assign, and direct work, and resolve problems. QUALIFICATIONS Experience working in a retail environment, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel. 1-3 years of customer service experience. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment. Ability to assist in managing a team and maintain overall goals and profits. Self‑starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
