Physical Therapist (Visalia and Surrounding Areas)This position is responsible for treatment of patients and communication with staff, patients, patient families and physicians. This includes providing direct patient care, demonstrating fiscal awareness, assisting with maintenance and operation of the department.Educational RequirementsBachelors Degree or higher with a major in Physical TherapyLicensed by the Physical Therapy Board of California as a Physical TherapistCurrent CPR or Basic Life Support certificationQualifications and SkillsStrong communication skills with staff, physicians and patientsExperience with outpatient orthopedic Physical TherapyGood analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to prioritize work flow in a fast-paced environmentResponsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:1. Accountable for participation in direct patient careReview physician referral and medical records to confirm that patient is an appropriate candidate for physical therapyEvaluate and assess patient's condition, performing appropriate tests to determine PT treatment requiredPlan and prepare treatment program in a timely manner based on evaluation findingsAdminister and modify treatment program as indicated.Orient, instruct and direct the work of PT Assistants, Athletic Trainers and PT Aides in the administration of above treatment programConfer with physicians and other practitioners to obtain additional patient information, suggest revisions in plan of care and integrate PT with other aspects of the patient's health careRegularly demonstrates creativity, skill and efficiency in designing and implementing the physical therapy treatment programs for patients of all types of disabilities and medical problemsIndependently utilizes complex equipmentRecognizes and reports/alters unsafe patient practicesDocuments initial assessments, daily treatments, reassessments, discharge plans in medical recordPrepares communications to referring physician on a regular and as needed basis through the course of therapy2. Accountable for ensuring maintenance and care of the department as an orderly, clean and safe work environmentEnsures operation and cleanliness of physical therapy equipment according to safety and infection control standardsPlans, communicates and cooperates with other department personnel in maintaining an orderly, clean, safe work areaReports any defective equipment to the PT directorEnsures proper levels of supplies and equipment in designated areasCompletes additional job tasks as assigned by the PT Director3. Accountable for planning and participating in quality review programsPlans, develops and attends department in-services, meetings, and educational sessionsPlans and develops staff professional skills, new programs to improve patient care outcomesPromotes the development of criteria for proper utilization of personnelPlans and develops educational programs for other personnel, physicians and the community4. Continual patient handling will be required. Good eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to treat patients, operate a keyboard, telephone, and other office/PT equipment is also required.
