Wastewater Mechanic in Training

Job Description

Job Summary:
Seeking a Wastewater Mechanic in Training to support the operation, maintenance, and repair of sewer collection systems, manholes, lift stations, and related utility infrastructure. Responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance, operating rehabilitation equipment, assisting with inspections, responding to emergencies, maintaining records, and supporting asset management activities. This role offers hands-on training in wastewater utility operations and maintenance while working in a fast-paced field environment. Flexibility for on-call, weekend, holiday, and emergency response work is required.


Pay: Up to $23.00 per hour

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Minimum 1 year of utilities, maintenance, or related field experience preferred
• Valid Florida driver's license required
• Florida Class A CDL with Tanker endorsement required or ability to obtain
• Ability to obtain Florida Class "C" Collection System license within 1 year
• Ability to perform manual labor and work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
• Willingness to work extended shifts, weekends, holidays, and emergency callouts

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on sewer collection systems and utility infrastructure
• Operate equipment for rehabilitation of manholes and sewer systems
• Assist with CCTV inspections, utility locating, and asset management programs
• Repair and maintain sewer lines, lift stations, and manholes
• Respond to emergency situations and customer service issues
• Perform data entry, record keeping, and inventory monitoring
• Maintain facilities, buildings, and grounds
• Follow all safety, operating, and emergency response procedures
