The Mainstreet CLIP valuations team builds and manages the models that power one of the largest exposure granting programs in the company.

Role Description

In this role you'll have a unique opportunity to work on the technical side of things while partnering with credit analysts to impact the P&L of Capital One's Mainstreet CLIP platform. This is a chance to be at the forefront of innovation, shaping the next generation of infrastructure and tools that will enable rapid credit decision-making for a business that extends $12+ billion in credit every year.

What You'll Do:

• Build innovative tools: Design and develop a suite of sophisticated credit tools that will be used by a wide range of users, from credit analysts to data scientists. You'll leverage your Python skills to create solutions that are both powerful and user-friendly.
• Collaborate and learn: Work closely with credit analysts to support and define our credit and lending strategy. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the intricacies of credit by building the very tools that enable critical decision-making.
• Drive business impact: Your work will directly influence the P&L of our largest lending program, giving you a chance to see the tangible results of your efforts on a massive scale.
• Partner with experts: Interact heavily with both credit analysts and data science partners, translating complex needs into actionable technical solutions.

Basic Qualifications:

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining one of the following with an expectation that the required degree will be obtained on or before the scheduled start date:
• A Bachelor's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field) plus 5 years of experience performing data analytics
• A Master's Degree in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field) or an MBA with a quantitative concentration plus 3 years of experience performing data analytics
• A PhD in a quantitative field (Statistics, Economics, Operations Research, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Master's Degree in "STEM" field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) plus 3 years of experience in data analytics, or PhD in "STEM" field (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)
• At least 1 year of experience working with AWS
• At least 3 years' experience in Python, Scala, or R
• At least 3 years' experience with machine learning
• At least 3 years' experience with SQL

The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.

McLean, VA: $161,800 - $184,600 for Princ Associate, Data ScienceRichmond, VA: $147,100 - $167,900 for Princ Associate, Data Science

Candidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.

This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI). Incentives could be discretionary or non discretionary depending on the plan.
