Make a difference in the lives of elementary students as a Resource Teacher supporting both 4th and 6th grade classrooms for the full academic year. This contract position, located within easy reach of the Washington Navy Yard, offers the chance to provide critical academic and specialized support to students with diverse learning needs in a collaborative school environment.

Desired Qualifications:

• Possession of a valid Virginia or Maryland teaching license; expired DC licenses will also be considered
• Experience working in resource or special education settings preferred
• Demonstrated strengths in classroom management and effective communication
• Skill in collaborating with general education teachers, families, and support staff to foster student success
• Commitment to inclusivity and differentiated instruction for diverse learners

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan and deliver individualized instruction for students in 4th and 6th grade, based on IEP goals and best practices
• Support students’ academic, social, and behavioral growth within the resource classroom and through push-in or pull-out services as appropriate
• Track student progress, maintain accurate records, and report regularly to families and school teams
• Contribute to IEP meetings, progress monitoring, and ongoing case management duties
• Foster a supportive, positive, and structured learning environment
• Collaborate with colleagues to adapt curriculum materials and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs
