Custodian PositionReports to: Head Custodian, Building Principal, SuperintendentTerms of Employment: 12 months, full-time, 30-40 hours per week. Employed on an at-will basis according to our Board policies.Benefits according to Board Policy Includes: After 60 days of employment you will receive Board paid health and life insurance, option to purchase for vision and dental insurance, retirement plan, and 19 paid holidays, 10 vacation days, 12 personal days annually.Purpose: The job of the custodian is to maintain clean and safe buildings at the school.Qualifications: High school diploma or the equivalent.Essential Functions:Properly keep all district buildings neat and clean at all timesVacuum, sweep, and mop hallways, stairs, and floors as needed throughout the buildingsDust furniture and other areas as neededClean toilets, restroom sinks, floors, fixtures, and water fountains daily.Wash and clean windows both inside and out as neededMaintain storage areas to ensure trash free walkwaysPerforms other related duties as needed when askedReports damage of school property or any major repairs to the Director of MaintenanceMakes minor repairs when appropriateInventory on hand cleaning supplies and materials while requesting the replenishment of supplies in a timely manner. Assist in ordering supplies when needed.Clean cafeteria and setup/takedown/storing of tables as neededScrub, strip and wax floors as directedComplete emergency cleaning services and repairs when neededMove equipment and furniture in the buildings as directedResponsible for locking classrooms, windows, and buildings as well as checking for fire hazards.Perform other duties as assigned by the Head Custodian and/or SuperintendentAbility to communicate information and ideas as well as exchange accurate information in specific situations with other staff.RequirementsMust be able to adhere to the following:Lift up to 50lbsBe able to operate or learn to operate cleaning machinesWork with cleaning chemicals and suppliesLift, sit, stand, bend, reach, push, pull, kneel, and ascend/descend to complete tasks when neededEVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of support staff personnel.
