Medical Records Specialist

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a Medical Records Specialist for our healthcare client in Knoxville, TN. This on‑site, temporary‑to‑hire opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a patient‑focused, fast‑paced environment where communication, organization, and accuracy are essential.

About the Role

• Type: Temp to Hire
• Location: Knoxville, TN.
• Compensation: $16.50-$17.50 per hour

Responsibilities

• Ensure timely and accurate processing of documents within the fax management system queue
• Route incoming faxes to the appropriate staff members promptly
• Upload and maintain documentation in the EHR system, including submitting medical record requests and forms to third-party records vendors
• Complete and follow up on medical record requests via email communication
• Sort, distribute, and manage incoming mail, and handle inbound telephone inquiries professionally
• Provide general administrative support to the department as needed, assisting with ad hoc tasks and priorities

Qualifications

• Experience in a healthcare office or medical administrative environment
• Strong communication skills and professional phone etiquette
• Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced setting
• Comfort using EHR and scheduling platforms; strong attention to accuracy
• Understanding of basic insurance concepts (eligibility, benefits, medical necessity)
• Prior authorization or surgery scheduling experience is a plus but not required
• Commitment to confidentiality and compliance expectations
