Job Title: Machinist Job Description

This position is for a skilled CNC machinist working in a dynamic job shop environment. The role involves producing high-quality parts using vertical mills, requiring a hands-on approach to both setting up and running production.

Responsibilities

• Perform 2-3 setups per day on vertical mills.

• Set up and run production of parts in a job shop setting.

• Read and interpret blueprints to gather necessary materials and produce parts.

• Conduct first article inspections using quality tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.

• Adjust machine feeds and speeds as necessary.

• Maintain tolerance levels of +/- .001.

• Perform minor preventative maintenance on machines.

Essential Skills

• Proficient in CNC machining, particularly with mills.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

• Experience in holding tight tolerances of +/- .001.

• Skilled in using inspection tools for quality assurance.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience in a job shop environment is beneficial.

• Familiarity with producing large parts is a plus.

Work Environment

This job shop specializes in custom parts for the agriculture industry as well as transportation and shipping sectors. The team consists of 40 dedicated individuals. The position is for the 2nd shift, from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., with initial training on day shifts for 2-4 months. The dress code includes jeans, a t-shirt, and steel-toed shoes.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of South Bend, IN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.
