e-Learning Designer/Developer

What You’ll Do Use advanced technologies to design, develop and deploy e-learning solutions via web applications, producing high-quality online learning modules that interface with a learning management system. Create content and apply design/graphic principles to educational materials for traditional learning and blended solutions, and design and update e-learning using a combination of cutting‑edge interactive media, state‑of‑the‑art techniques, electronic tools and systems. Test, problem‑solve, update and maintain e-learning, traditional and blended learning solutions, working closely with support staff and customers to ensure functionality with a learning management system and intranet or internet sites. Assist with the design of needs assessments, development of processes, and evaluation of program effectiveness; create data management tools for continuous improvement; perform duties that may include conference calls, planning meetings, action items, professional development seminars, certification tasks, training others and special projects. Assume project‑management responsibilities for internal and external clients/customers related to e-learning training program design, development and deliverables. To Qualify for This Position, You’ll Need the Following Required Education Bachelor’s degree in a related field. Degree Equivalency Associate’s degree plus an additional two years of related work experience, for a total of four years of experience. Alternatively, six total years of required work experience. Required Work Experience Two years of instructional design, electronic media design or related work experience. Required Skills and Abilities Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational, time‑management, prioritization, conceptual and planning skills. Ability to work on several projects simultaneously, both independently and in groups. Intermediate knowledge of needs‑assessment techniques. General knowledge of methods for reporting statistics. Ability to work effectively under stringent pressure, multiple deadlines and ambiguities. Knowledge of media production, communication and dissemination techniques, including alternative ways to inform and entertain via written, oral and visual media. Required Software and Other Tools Knowledge of e-learning authoring tools such as Lectora, Articulate, Adobe eLearning Suite, Adobe Creative Cloud, HTML, SQL, JavaScript, Visual Basic, Captivate, Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator or related tools. Video and audio editing experience (plus). Knowledge of processors, electronic equipment, computer hardware and software, including applications and programming. Knowledge of national standards for web development and online learning (SCORM/AICC) or other evolving e-learning standards. Knowledge of 508 compliance (plus). Required Licenses and Certificates Trainer certification as required by the area training department. We Prefer That You Have the Following Previous hands‑on graphic design experience. Bachelor’s degree in Education, Training, Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field. Five years of experience as an e-learning developer using multiple course creation tools such as Lectora, Articulate, Storyline, or Toolbook. Knowledge of Section 508 requirements for the appropriate areas. Ability to edit audio/video files for consistency. PowerPoint certification in Adobe products for graphics design or authoring software. Work Environment Typical office environment; some travel may be required.
