Forklift operator

We are seeking a reliable and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our solar operations team. In this role, you will play a critical part in our supply chain by loading, unloading, moving, and staging solar equipment-including fragile solar panels, racking systems, inverters, and heavy energy storage batteries. The ideal candidate has experience operating sit-down and stand-up forklifts, understands safe material handling of sensitive electronics, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

salary: $19 - $20 per hour

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling & Equipment Operation

• Safe Operation: Safely operate sit-down electric/propane forklifts, stand-up reach trucks, and pallet jacks to move goods throughout the facility.
• Solar Equipment Care: Handle delicate, high-value solar components (e.g., PV module pallets, glass/silicon components) with extreme care to prevent micro-cracks or physical damage.
• Loading & Unloading: Unload incoming freight from flatbeds and container trucks; load outbound delivery trucks and installation crew flatbeds efficiently and securely.

Warehouse & Inventory Management

• Inbound Inspection: Inspect incoming shipments for physical damage, verify packing slips against purchase orders, and report discrepancies immediately.
• Put-away & Pick: Accurately place received inventory into designated bin locations and pick solar kit orders for installation teams or commercial job sites.
• Scanning & Tracking: Utilize handheld RF scanners or warehouse management software (WMS) to track inventory movements in real time.

Safety, Maintenance & Housekeeping

• Daily Inspections: Perform pre-shift safety checks on forklifts (fluid levels, brakes, hydraulics, battery/fuel levels) and log inspection sheets.
• OSHA & Safety Compliance: Adhere to all OSHA, company, and site-specific safety regulations, including wearing required PPE (steel-toe boots, high-vis vest, safety glasses).

The essential functions of this role include:
