Radiation Therapist Position

Primary Department, Division, or Unit: UHS Radiation Oncology

Work Shift and Schedule: This is a per diem position, which means you will work on an as needed, agreed upon basis. Working hours will be assigned by your manager.

Compensation Range: $40.70 - $61.05 per hour, depending on experience. This position is not eligible for benefits.

Job Responsibilities

• Administer radiation treatment of prescribed dose to the designated area to include reproducing patient position and plan parameters for each day of treatment.
• Perform patient simulations in collaboration with the radiation oncologist.
• Fabricate immobilization devices.
• Capture XVI and/or portal images as outlined in the treatment plan.
• Measure diode readings as requested by the physician to verify treatment accuracy.
• Accurately document treatment details and patient information in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Schedule patients for treatment and simulation sessions.
• Ensure accurate charge capture and billing for all procedures performed.
• Fabricate blocks and cutouts for electron treatments as needed.
• Perform daily morning warm-up and quality assurance checks on treatment equipment.
• Alert the physician and nurse to any complications or patient concerns observed during treatment.
• Operate the CT Big Bore for simulation and radiation planning purposes.
• Participate in weekly chart rounds, monthly staff meetings, and other assigned departmental meetings.
• Adhere to department scheduling requirements and demonstrate flexibility to meet patient care needs.

Position Qualifications

Minimum Required:

• Associate's Degree in Applied Science in Radiation Therapy.
• NYS licensure registration in Radiologic Technology Radiation Therapy, and ARRT Radiation Therapy certification taken within 4 months, and passed within 6 months of employment.
• CPR certification within the first three months of hire.

Preferred:

• Bachelor's Degree of Science in Radiation.
