Role Summary:

The Claims Adjuster II investigates, evaluates, and adjusts General and Automobile Liability claims. Although assigned claims generally consist of low to medium exposure, first and third-party automobile bodily injury and property damage claims, as well as premises liability accidents, product liability claims, the claims adjuster must be qualified legally and technically to handle all claims competently.

Location & Work Arrangement:

Position is fully remote with preference for candidates in California. Regular travel is required for mediations, settlement conferences, and hearings, which may exceed two hours each way. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

The employee shall be asked to perform all of the following essential functions, and other duties as assigned. 

  Claims Investigation & Liability Evaluation:

• Investigate and process a variety of auto, bodily injury, property damage, and general liability claims.

• Consult police and hospital records, examine photographs and statements, and take recorded statements as needed to render a sound liability position.

Bodily Injury & Property Damage Evaluation:

• Evaluate and review bodily injury demands and negotiate claims to settlement.

• Evaluate and calculate automobile total loss settlements and diminishment of value claims.

• Evaluate and calculate non-vehicle property damage, including supporting documentation.

Settlements & Recovery:

• Negotiate and finalize claim settlements including lien resolution (Medicare, Medi-Cal, provider, attorney liens) in alignment with client authority. 

Create & Maintain Records:

• Maintain records, reports, diaries, and files on the CMIS in accordance with the Company Procedure Manual and established Company and regulatory criteria.

• Document spoken and written case activity on the CMIS and prepare timely status reports for clients.

Professionalism & Communication:

• Respond to inquiries within required timeframes; maintain proactive communication with injured workers, employers, carriers, counsel, and vendors throughout the life of each claim.

Requirements:

  Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred but not required; relevant work experience will be considered.

• At least 5 years of experience adjusting auto and general liability claims.

• Governmental immunity experience a plus but not required.

  Skills & Knowledge:

• Excellent oral and written communication, including presentation skills.

• Strong negotiation and settlement skills.

• PC literate, including Microsoft Office products.

• Analytical and interpretive skills.

• Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and meet or exceed service expectations.

Compensation: 

Salary Range: $35.00 - $45.00

The salary range listed is an estimate. Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors such as a candidate’s experience, qualifications, skill set, and work location. Position is eligible for AvonRisk’s full benefits package.
