Technical Program Manager
Omni Instrument
Omni Instrument builds spatially intelligent edge-AI tools for advanced manufacturing. Our devices combine computer vision, SLAM, sensing, and closed-loop control to identify work, guide operators, enforce assembly sequences, capture traceability, and reduce cycle time and rework. Our team includes former Tesla engineers and leading robotics, computer vision, and AI talent. We work directly with major aerospace and automotive manufacturers to deploy our technology on some of the world’s most complex assembly lines. We are looking for a highly technical, execution-oriented Technical Program Manager who can help turn ambitious engineering programs into reliable products and scaled customer deployments. Role Description As Technical Program Manager, you will own programs from initial customer requirements through engineering development, validation, pilot deployment, and production scale-up. You will work across mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, firmware, computer vision, machine learning, full-stack software, manufacturing, and supply chain. You will translate between customers and engineers, maintain clarity across fast-moving programs, identify risks early, and ensure the team delivers. This is not a traditional coordination-only program management role. You must be technically fluent, comfortable working directly with engineers and hardware, and willing to solve problems hands-on. The role is designed to grow into Head of Operations , with increasing ownership over manufacturing, supply chain, quality, customer deployments, facilities, vendors, and the operating systems required to scale Omni Instrument. This is an on-site role in San Francisco, CA, reporting directly to the CEO. You Will Own complex technical programs from customer requirements through development, validation, pilot deployment, and production. Build and maintain program schedules, priorities, technical requirements, dependencies, budgets, and risk registers. Coordinate work across mechanical, electrical, firmware, computer vision, machine learning, full-stack software, manufacturing, and supply chain teams. Translate customer needs into clear technical requirements, acceptance criteria, test plans, and engineering deliverables. Work directly with customers during design reviews, demonstrations, factory pilots, and production deployments. Drive technical decisions and ensure tradeoffs are understood, documented, and resolved quickly. Establish clear ownership, operating rhythms, and accountability across multiple concurrent programs. Coordinate prototype builds, sourcing, supplier timelines, engineering changes, validation, and manufacturing readiness. Identify schedule, supply-chain, technical, and deployment risks before they become blockers. Analyze test and deployment data and communicate results through concise technical reports and presentations. Improve the systems we use for documentation, product lifecycle management, procurement, quality, and customer deployment. Travel periodically to customer factories and supplier facilities. Take on progressively broader operational ownership as the company scales. Path to Head of Operations As you grow in the role, you will have the opportunity to build and lead Omni Instrument’s operations organization. This can include responsibility for: Manufacturing strategy, production planning, and contract manufacturers. Supply chain, procurement, inventory, logistics, and supplier relationships. New product introduction and the transition from prototype to repeatable production. Quality systems, incoming inspection, calibration, validation, and configuration control. Customer pilot planning, field deployments, installation, training, and support. Facilities, lab operations, security, and operational compliance. PLM, ERP, program management, and company-wide operating systems. Hiring and managing program management, manufacturing, supply-chain, quality, and deployment teams. Building the infrastructure required to scale from early customer programs to large production deployments. You Have A degree in engineering, computer science, robotics, manufacturing, or another relevant technical field. Experience leading complex technical programs involving multiple engineering disciplines and external stakeholders. Strong technical knowledge in at least one of the following areas: Manufacturing, mechanical systems, or hardware product development. Full-stack software or connected devices. Computer vision, machine learning, or SLAM. Robotics, embedded systems, or controls. The ability to understand technical architecture, challenge assumptions, and communicate effectively with engineers. Experience translating ambiguous customer needs into structured requirements and executable plans. Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to create clear technical documentation and executive-level updates. Comfort managing multiple programs, changing priorities, and incomplete information. A highly organized, accountable, and hands-on working style. The willingness to do whatever is needed to move a program forward in an early-stage company. We Prefer Experience shipping integrated hardware and software products. Experience with robotics, industrial automation, power tools, computer vision, or edge-AI systems. Experience with new product introduction, manufacturing scale-up, supply chain, or quality. Experience deploying products in aerospace, automotive, defense, or other advanced manufacturing environments. Familiarity with BOM management, PLM, ERP, engineering change control, supplier qualification, and production validation. Experience working directly with enterprise customers during pilots or factory deployments. Experience building operational processes from the ground up at an early-stage company. Evidence of exceptional ownership: you find problems, create structure, and drive them through completion without waiting for perfect instructions. #J-18808-Ljbffr
