Sr. Scientist, Lab Manager, Cell & Genetic Medicines

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Senior Scientist and Lab Manager to oversee day-to-day operations of a cell and genetic medicines laboratory in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The role combines scientific expertise with operational leadership to support CAR screening, assay development, and vector workflows while ensuring efficient lab infrastructure and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

Coordinate daily Cambridge laboratory operations and serve as central point of contact for operational needs
Manage lab equipment lifecycle including installation, maintenance, service contracts, and downtime minimization
Develop and maintain inventory systems for consumables, reagents, and shared lab resources
Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions to improve lab efficiency and scientific productivity
Partner with EHS and site operations teams to ensure lab practices align with safety and regulatory requirements

Requirements

BS or MS in biology, biotechnology, bioengineering, immunology, or related discipline
4-6 years of hands-on experience in biotech, pharmaceutical, or complex research lab settings
Strong knowledge of mammalian cell culture and molecular/cell biology workflows
Experience managing laboratory equipment, shared resources, and lab infrastructure
Demonstrated ability to coordinate across multiple teams and external vendors
Understanding of EHS, biosafety, and regulatory lab compliance requirements
