Position Summary

The Room Attendant / Houseman is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, appearance, and overall comfort of guest rooms, hallways, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. This role supports the housekeeping department by ensuring guest rooms are cleaned to hotel standards and that housekeeping staff have the supplies and assistance needed to provide excellent guest service.

Key Responsibilities

Room Attendant Duties

• Clean and prepare guest rooms according to hotel standards.
• Make beds, change linens, and replace towels and amenities.
• Clean bathrooms, sinks, mirrors, toilets, tubs, showers, and floors.
• Dust furniture, vacuum carpets, mop floors, and remove trash.
• Restock guest room supplies such as soap, shampoo, tissue, coffee, and cups.
• Report maintenance issues, damages, or safety concerns to management.
• Ensure rooms are secure after cleaning.
• Provide friendly and professional service to guests when needed.

Houseman Duties

• Clean and maintain hallways, stairwells, elevators, lobby areas, restrooms, and other public areas.
• Remove trash and dirty linens from housekeeping carts and storage areas.
• Deliver clean linens, towels, supplies, and guest-requested items to rooms or housekeeping staff.
• Assist Room Attendants with heavy lifting, moving furniture, or deep cleaning tasks.
• Keep housekeeping closets and storage areas clean, organized, and stocked.
• Help with special cleaning projects as assigned.
• Support laundry or other hotel departments when needed.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel housekeeping experience preferred but not required.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness.
• Good communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and hotel procedures.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and professional.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, push, and pull throughout the shift.
• Ability to lift up to 25–50 pounds as needed.
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.

Schedule

• Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and flexible shifts as required.

Work Environment

This position works throughout the hotel, including guest rooms, hallways, public areas, laundry rooms, storage areas, and back-of-house spaces.
