Line Mechanic

Job TitleLine MechanicJob DescriptionPrincipal Function:This position would include operation of equipment as well as identifying areas of spoilage and taking appropriate corrective action to resolve the issues at this high-speed state-of-the-art metal packaging manufacturing facility. This equipment will include spray equipment, neckers and flangers as well as other production machinery. In addition, this position will also develop standard operating procedures; provide training for equipment operation and reinforce all safety procedures.Duties And ResponsibilitiesUnder the direction of the Shift Supervisor the Line Mechanic will:Make machine repairs and overhaulsExamine can bodies and cans for quality production as specified and in accordance with can standardsAdjust equipment, when necessary, to maintain good quality and efficient productionsStart and stop all equipmentRemove jams in line and machinesGrind slitter cutters, sharpen punches and dies when neededCheck to insure proper lubrication of equipmentMaintain check lists and make out reports as requiredConcurrently maintain and/or operate equipment as requiredRelieve operators as requiredDirect employees on assigned linesSkillful uses of all mechanic's hand toolsDiagnose, remedy mechanical trouble, make repairs or complete overhauls on assigned equipmentKeep assigned area and equipment neat and orderlyPerforms other job-related duties as required or assigned.RequirementsIn addition to the specific responsibilities listed above, the ideal candidate will possess the following:Minimum RequirementsHigh School Education/GED required.Advanced mechanical skills and ability to use precision measuring devicesThorough knowledge and understanding of manufacturing process, equipment, and quality specifications.Demonstrated involvement in safety and knowledge of safety regulations which apply to work functions.Proven working experience in preventative maintenance, troubleshooting skills, and equipment re-build expertise is requiredBasic knowledge of computer systems, gauges, tools and equipment.Effective and proven communication skills working in a team environmentPreferred RequirementsAn Associate's/technical degree is preferred or a related vocational/technical certificationWorking experience in a high-speed manufacturing environment is preferredPhysical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawlThe employee may lift and/or move up to 50 poundsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focusWorking ConditionsGenerally works in a plant environment but will be required to perform some job duties inside a typical office settingWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular trafficThe employee may be exposed to a wide range of temperaturesThe noise level is frequently loudWhat Crown Offers YouStrong engagement and commitment to the safety of our employeesThe opportunity to build a meaningful careerProfessional and personal development through training and work experiencesJoin Us And Become Part Of A Team Of Professionals Who Are Passionate About Sustainable Packaging!Working Together Working Together is one of the five pillars that make up our Twentyby30™ program.
