We're always pushing each other to go further because we believe that when we realize our potential, we can help others reach theirs.As an FP&A Analyst, you will play a key role in a broad range of financial planning and analysis activities, delivering insights, solutions and services that help our internal business partners make informed decisions. Core responsibilities include supporting the annual budget and quarterly forecast cycles, building and maintaining financial models, contributing to the incentive compensation process, identifying and piloting new analytical and AI tools, and producing clear, actionable reporting. Success in this role requires strong analytical thinking paired with excellent communication skills.Job ResponsibilitiesSupports the compilation and analysis of the annual budget and quarterly forecastProduce clear reports that summarize financial output, issues and recommendationsDevelops and maintains models and tools to support effective and efficient analysisProvide decision support through value added analysis and financial insightsWorks with business partners to gain a deeper understanding of financial data, to confirm assumptions, and validate output of analysesAnalyzes insights on competitor and industry analysis workflowsIdentifies and pilots new analytical and AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Claude, Power Query) to improve the speed and quality of data analysis and reportingSupports reporting needs of the broader organization to provide increased visibility of financial performanceIdentifies, recommends and implements continuous process improvementDocuments standard processes and process flowsParticipate in ad hoc initiatives as they ariseTravel to other Markel offices, conferences, etc. as requiredEducationBachelor's degree in finance or a related disciplineMBA or MBA pursuit a plusCertificationCPCU or other industry designations a plusWork Experience/Skill Set1-3 years of related experiences or applicable internshipsFoundational knowledge of corporate finance, budgeting, and forecasting principlesUnderstanding of financial processes and systemsStrong analytical and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insightsFinancial consulting and analysis skills - ability to assess needs, identify issues, recommend alternatives and implement changeCuriosity and interest in applying AI and automation tools to streamline analysis and reportingExperience using reporting tools such as Power BI to improve the customer experienceStrong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present data and insights clearly to audiences at all levelsMust have strong Excel and data manipulation skillsAbility to deliver outstanding customer serviceOrganized with ability to multi-taskAdaptable and comfortable with fast pace and shifting prioritiesSelf-starter who proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and takes initiative without being asked#LI-ABUS Work AuthorizationUS Work Authorization required. Individual offers are determined based on geographic location, experience, qualifications, internal equity, and other job-related factors.
