Financial Aid Advisor

Instruct students and staff on financial aid policies and procedures Provide financial aid counseling and resolve student issues Answer student and staff inquiries and provide accurate information Assist students with filing the FAFSA Answer financial aid tickets in SmartView and monitor campus financial aid email Perform data entry, word processing, faxing, mailing, filing, copying, document imaging, and maintain student financial aid records Process forms for external agencies including housing, SNAP, TANF, Workforce Development, and Vocational Rehabilitation Run, review, and process reports Advise students and department staff about financial aid and veteran/military educational benefits Use ScholarTrack, CPS, COD, and NSLDS to research difficult student issues Handle verification inquiries and upload documents to Banner Xtender Review program changes and updates to verify continuing financial aid eligibility Assist with campus scholarship programs and work study program coordination Assist in financial aid workshops, orientations, and other campus activities for new students Travel throughout the Ivy Tech Indianapolis service area as required Perform additional duties logically associated with the position Requirements Associate degree with a minimum of one year of relevant experience Experience with financial aid information systems preferred Strong customer service, interpersonal, and communication skills Ability to work without supervision Ability to promote an inclusive environment reflecting the broad diversity and backgrounds of students and employees Must comply with FERPA, applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards Core Competencies Demonstrates expertise in financial aid policies and procedures, providing effective counseling and support to students and staff.
