Job Description:\n\n \n \n \n Physical Therapist I $50.89 - $ 71.10\n Job Summary:\n Responsible for the evaluation of patients referred for Physical Therapy (PT), formulation of a plan of care, and administration of PT treatments. The staff Physical Therapist shall interact with all hospital departments, and medical staff. Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in all areas involving patients and their related hospital business. Conduct hospital business in an ethical and lawful manner, and will report any knowledge of real or potential fraud or abuse according to the NIHD Compliance Code of Conduct. Abide by the NIHD Personnel, Payroll Policies and Procedures. Abide by Departmental Policies and Procedures, and standards of performance and conduct.\n \n Job Relationships:\n \n Directly responsible to Director of Rehabilitation Services\n Supervises Physical Therapist Assistants, Rehab Aides and other support staff as required by California State Law\n Works closely with physicians, patients, families, other staff, nursing, other hospital departments, and other referral agencies\n \n Physical Hazards:\n Works in the general hospital setting. May be exposed to blood, body fluids, or tissues as well as patients in varying stages of infectious states. \n \n Samples of Duties:\n The information listed below is meant to serve as samples of job duties and responsibilities for positions in this classification. This list is neither inclusive nor exclusive, but indicative of several types of duties performed. \n \n \n Performs direct patient care in a safe and competent manner\n Interprets the physician’s referrals, evaluates the patient’s level of function to determine plan of care, and assists in diagnosis as it pertains to PT treatment\n Applies the principles of logic and evidence-based practice in the utilization and practice of PT\n Produces documentation to support all aspects of PT care, including evaluation results, treatment, response to treatment, family/team conferences, and communication with others involved in the delivery of patient care.\n Produces documentation that is accurate, concise, timely, and consistent with guidelines and requirements of the Rehabilitation Department, regulatory agencies, and third-party payers.\n Educates others including patients, family, caregivers, staff, and other health care providers, using relevant and effective teaching methods.\n Addresses patients’ needs for services other than PT with appropriate healthcare team members, as needed.\n Manages resources such as time, space, equipment and supplies to achieve goals of the Rehabilitation Department, including:\n \n Setting priorities for the use of resources to maximize outcomes\n Using time effectively and completing assigned tasks in a timely and accurate manner\n Coordinating with other personnel and service providers to facilitate efficient and effective patient care\n Incorporating an understanding of economic factors in the delivery of PT services.\n \n Uses support personnel according to legal standards and ethical guidelines.\n Follows established safety and ergonomic practices to minimize risk to patient, self and others, while maximizing the patient’s recovery. Notifies appropriate hospital personnel of any unsafe practice observed. \n Other duties as assigned by Director of Rehabilitation Services\n \n Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:\n Knowledge of:\n \n The Mission, Vision, and Values of Northern Inyo Healthcare District; \n NIHD policies and procedures, including Compliance Program, Code of Conduct, and Confidentiality standards;\n NIHD safety policies and procedures, including the Rainbow Chart, Employee Health, and Infection Prevention standards;\n \n Skills/Abilities to:\n \n Establish and maintain professional and respectful working relationships with NIHD staff at all levels, as well as with the public;\n Communicate effectively and professionally, both verbally and in writing, with NIHD staff and the public;\n Develop and maintain a high degree of maturity, integrity, and good judgement.\n Learn and utilize basic computer skills including: Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, electronic medical records, payroll/time card system, and intranet\n Conduct self in a responsible and professional manner, including:\n \n \n Accepting responsibility for own actions\n Being punctual and dependable\n Adapting to change\n Maintaining an enthusiastic and caring attitude\n \n \n Show respect for and sensitivity to individual differences in race, creed, color, gender, age, national or ethnic origin, sexual orientation, and disability or health status in communication with others, and in implementing interventions within the scope of PT practice\n \n Minimum Qualifications:\n Education: \n \n Graduate of an accredited program for Physical Therapy\n \n Certification: \n \n \n Current Physical Therapist license in the state of California\n \n \n \n Basic Life Support (BLS) within 2 months of hire and on-going\n \n \n Preferred:\n Experience:\n \n Work experience in outpatient orthopedic PT setting\n Work experience in acute care/inpatient PT setting\n Experience in other PT specialty area(s) such as: pelvic health, vestibular rehab, outpatient neurological rehab, pediatrics, and/or lymphedema\n \n Education: \n \n Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy or other related field\n \n \n Certification: \n \n American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Board-Certified Clinical Specialist\n Other advanced certification(s) relevant to PT practice within NIHD\n \n \n Physical Therapist II $55.25 - $76.53\n Job Summary:\n Responsible for the evaluation of patients referred for Physical Therapy (PT), formulation of a plan of care, and administration of PT treatments.
