PIRE scientists and practitioners continually focus on the design and implementation of complex program evaluation strategies and the conduct of research related to health and social issues, and criminal justice. PIRE practitioners and scientists provide training and technical assistance in many health-related areas to states and communities that are attempting to improve public health. We are dedicated to reducing health disparities and inequities through community‑based, participatory research, implementation science, and rigorous evaluation. Our scientists examine risk factors and outcomes from the micro through to macro levels, with a goal of understanding the specific impacts of policies on health and transforming public policy. PIRE is seeking established mid‑career investigators and evaluators to join our Southwest Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This opportunity is open to investigators and evaluators who can substantially contribute to the Southwest Center’s growing portfolio, including research focused on alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs, public health policy, eliminating health disparities, health care services and systems change, criminal justice, international health and development, educational research and program evaluation, and state and community partnerships and evaluation. We welcome all applicants and are particularly seeking applicants that will expand our health equities research, with special emphasis on mixed‑methods research and a focus on minority, disparate, or underserved populations (e.g., American Indian/Alaska Native, women, rural, or LGBTQ populations).
