Company: The Davey Tree Expert Company Locations: Gaithersburg, MD Additional Locations: n/a Work Site: On Site Req ID: 225936 Position Overview Tree Care Groundperson You will work outdoors, assisting climbers, foreman and other crew members in performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients. This includes pruning, thinning, removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy, installing cables, bracing and lightning protection systems, and removing hazardous trees. You will also properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more. Job Duties What You’ll Do: Assist climbers, foreman, and other crew members. Perform all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients. Prune, thin and remove deadwood throughout the tree canopy. Install cables, bracing and lightning protection systems. Remove hazardous trees. Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more. Qualifications What We’re Looking For: Love of the outdoors. Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire. Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law. Preferred: ISA Certified Arborist®, ISA Certified Tree Worker®, and/or TCIA Certified Tree Care Safety Professional®. Company Overview What We Offer: Paid time off and paid holidays.
