Responsibilities


Position Overview We are seeking a highly experienced SolarWinds Subject Matter Expert (SME) to lead the design, implementation, and migration of enterprise monitoring capabilities within a regulated utility environment. This role requires deep, hands-on expertise across multiple SolarWinds modules, strong integration architecture experience, and the ability to execute complex platform migrations under tight timelines.


The ideal candidate will bring a balance of technical depth, architectural thinking, and disciplined documentation practices, with a strong understanding of compliance-driven design.


Key Technical Requirements

• Multi-Module SolarWinds Expertise

Hands-on experience configuring and managing SolarWinds modules, including


Network Performance Monitor (NPM), Network Configuration Manager (NCM), and Server & Application Monitor (SAM) .

• Integration Architecture

Proven experience integrating SolarWinds with external platforms such as ServiceNow via middleware (e.g., ZiggyOps). Strong understanding of bidirectional data flows, transformation logic, and controlled data propagation.

• Legacy Monitoring Migration

Demonstrated experience migrating from legacy monitoring platforms such as Nagios, NNMI, and SCOM , including mapping monitoring constructs and rebuilding custom solutions where direct migration is not feasible.

• Compliance-Driven Design (NERC)

NERC certification is required. Deep understanding of designing monitoring architectures that meet regulatory requirements, including preventing sensitive data from flowing into non-compliant systems.

• Cloud & Hybrid Infrastructure (Azure)

Experience deploying SolarWinds in Azure-hosted environments , including high-availability (HA) collector design and hybrid (cloud/on-prem) monitoring strategies.


Key Responsibilities

• Platform Build & Configuration

Lead the build-out of SolarWinds infrastructure, including core platform setup, module configuration, and policy development.

• Phased Migration Execution

Drive the migration of monitoring workloads from:

• Nagios (target: May)
• NNMI/NA (target: August)
• SCOM (subsequent phase)

Execute against aggressive timelines with a focus on stability and continuity.

• Custom Monitoring Development

Rebuild and enhance custom monitoring scripts and configurations that cannot be directly migrated into SolarWinds.

• Documentation & Knowledge Transfer

Produce comprehensive, high-quality documentation for all configurations, integrations, and processes. Ensure deliverables are maintainable and support long-term operational ownership. Additional Qualifications
