The actual salary will be determined by factors such as the role’s scope, complexity, location, candidate skills, education, training, credentials and experience. Employees are eligible for performance‑based cash incentive awards. Job Overview Provide underwriting with the necessary account knowledge to evaluate applicants or customers’ businesses. Understand facts about the account and the associated qualitative assessment so that underwriters can differentiate the account from similar businesses. Responsibilities Maintain a consistent field presence, spending approximately 20% – 50% of time onsite with customers. Travel to customers, which may include long‑distance, overnight and multi‑night trips depending on business needs and territory. Prepare, conduct, and complete technically detailed risk assessment evaluations of client locations to determine potential hazards and risk factors for underwriting/risk selection. Complete risk assessments for lower‑complexity accounts such as retail, habitational, offices, schools and healthcare (excluding hospitals) to differentiate the account by providing necessary information to the underwriter. Identify uncontrolled hazards and make appropriate recommendations to the applicant or insured. Consult with clients on ways to control hazards to help them reduce, mitigate or prevent losses. Understand and demonstrate loss trends and apply appropriate risk control products or services that align to recommendations made to the applicant or insured. Collaborate with underwriting, claims, clients, BI business partners and other risk control staff. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ideal Candidate Two years of relevant experience. Technical aptitude and detail oriented. Superior communication skills – written, verbal and listening. Ability to quickly establish credibility and rapport with others. Self‑awareness, curiosity, critical thinking skills and a proven work ethic. Influencing skills and experience working in a collaborative environment. Must Haves Bachelor’s degree in a related field or one year of experience in safety, risk control/management, or a related field such as occupational/environmental health and safety, science, engineering, construction, manufacturing, or relevant military experience. Valid driver’s license. Certification to meet state‑specific requirements, where applicable, or ability to attain it. Benefits Health Insurance for employees and eligible family members.
