Department Summary

As a key member of the Total Rewards team, the Benefits Specialist plays a pivotal role in delivering an exceptional employee experience across EchoStar. This role is responsible for the day-to-day administration, vendor coordination, and compliance of our comprehensive health, welfare, financial, and leave programs. Serving as a subject matter expert and primary escalation point, you will collaborate closely with internal teams (HRIS, Payroll, Communications) and external partners to ensure seamless benefits operations and execute key annual initiatives like Open Enrollment and Wellness Fairs.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Program Administration & Escalations: Serve as the primary contact for resolving escalated employee inquiries regarding medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA, EAP, COBRA, 401(k), life/disability, and leaves of absence (LOA).

• HRIS & Vendor Operations: Partner with HRIS, IT, Payroll, and third-party vendors to maintain system integrations, troubleshoot data feeds, and ensure data integrity.

• Open Enrollment & Onboarding: Support the annual Open Enrollment lifecycle—including system UAT testing, employee sessions, and enrollment processing. Present benefits overviews during New Hire Orientation.

• Financial Reconciliation & Compliance: Verify monthly premium billing statements for all group policies; audit and maintain statistical data regarding premiums, claims, and overall costs in strict compliance with ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, and COBRA regulations.

• Communications & Portal Management: Oversee the content, updates, and maintenance of the internal employee benefits portal; partner with Internal Comms to draft clear benefits literature.

• Wellness & Culture: Organize company-wide wellness initiatives, health fairs, and engagement programs to foster a supportive work culture.

Skills, Experience and Requirements

Requirements

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or equivalent practical experience.

• Experience: 2+ years of dedicated benefits administration experience within a corporate environment.

• Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with core HRIS systems (Workday or Oracle preferred) and proficiency in Microsoft Office/G-Suite.

• Compliance & Domain Knowledge: Practical understanding of federal and state laws governing health and welfare plans (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, HIPAA).

• Core Competencies: Excellent problem-solving skills, high attention to detail in financial/data auditing, strong written/verbal communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.

Salary Ranges

Compensation: $63,150.00/Year - $90,000.00/Year

The base pay range shown is a guideline. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, and competencies; compensation is based on the role's location and is subject to change based on work location.
