Business Development Engineer - Chemicals/Gas - Houston

Our client, a global leader in industrial gases and engineering equipment has an immediate opening for a  Regional Business Development Manager based out of Houston, TX.  This is an office based role that will require up to 25% travel throughout the region TX, LA, OK and AR.

This individual contributor role will be responsible for identifying, developing and closing new business opportunities jointly with regional sales teams, SME's and potential customers by leveraging technical knowledge and technical solutions within the defined industrial markets - chemical, steel, petrochemical, electronics, and renewables. Most opportunities are long-term in nature and will have exposure and support to large projects as well. 

The successful candidate will receive general guidance and direction from the Area Director and will collaborate extensively with other team members including sales and R&D. The position will manage a region responsible for selling value-based technical solutions to both new and existing customers by prospecting, qualifying leads, performing analysis and building strategy to result in profitable and consistent growth.

The ideal candidate will have prior successful experience working with process equipment and plants. Experience working with both small and large projects very beneficial, along with engineering savvy, relationship building skills and well developed commercial/business/project management skills.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Science or Engineering Degree strongly preferred.
• 8+ years technical sales/applications selling complex value solutions with an understanding of chemical or gas processes very desirable.
• Project Management and/or Project Development experience.
• Contracting small or large on-site or pipeline supply experience.
• High-energy with strong presentation, communication and business skills.
• Results and performance driven, motivated by achieving growth objectives in region. 
• Able to work autonomously and independently but function as a team player with a "go-getter" approach to finding and closing new business opportunities.
• Able to travel in region, mostly by car, approximately 25%.

Position offers a competitive base salary + annual bonus + company vehicle + full benefit package.
