Senior Change Communications Specialist

Type: Internal hire — full-time W-2 employee of Innovation Consulting LLC

Location: Greater Los Angeles, CA preferred. Candidates based elsewhere in California, including the Bakersfield and Fresno areas, will be considered.

Salary: $105K – $138K per year, DOE

About the Role

Senior Change Communications Specialist for a regulated utility's change programs: communication plans, executive briefings and job aids, based in Greater Los Angeles. Innovation Consulting LLC is supporting a large utility serving Southern California and is recruiting a Senior Change Communications Specialist supporting its organizational change management program.

The ideal candidate is a strong internal communications writer who can turn a change impact assessment into an email employees actually read, and who is comfortable drafting talking points for executives. This role sits inside the change team, not the marketing team.

You will be hired as a full-time employee of Innovation Consulting and deployed as a consultant on client engagements. This position is contingent on contract award, anticipated Q4 2026, with assignments beginning in late 2026 to early 2027.

Key Responsibilities

Communications Delivery

•     Design and develop program and project level communications supporting transformation projects, including communication plans, newsletters, articles, fact sheets, job aids and FAQs.

•     Produce Sway and PowerPoint presentations, event materials, executive video scripts, weekly activity reports and informative emails to large audiences.

•     Draft leadership talking points and briefings for events, sourcing relevant data and context.

Strategy and Measurement

•     Execute plans for measuring communication success and capture metrics evaluating campaign results.

•     Advance communications strategy and policy across multiple channels and creative approaches to engagement.

•     Adhere to the client's style guidelines to ensure alignment with corporate communications on image, identity and brand.

Workflow and Stakeholders

•     Institute and manage communications workflow, internal processes, cross-team collaboration and SharePoint content management.

•     Build and maintain collaborative relationships with leaders, key partners, stakeholders and internal communications teams.

•     Ensure the highest standards for quality communications, accurate copy and graphic design.

Work Requirements

•     Onsite attendance at the client's offices in the Greater Los Angeles metro is required at a cadence set by the client per assignment. Work that does not require in-person presence is performed remotely.

•     The client provides equipment, workspace and systems access. Work is assigned and directed by the client's Organizational Change Management Senior Manager or designee, with as-needed field travel across the utility's Southern California service territory.

Qualifications

Required

•     7 or more years of internal or corporate communications experience, including program or project communications supporting organizational change.

•     Bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Business or a related field, or equivalent experience.

•     Demonstrated portfolio of communication plans, executive talking points, newsletters, job aids and large-audience email communications.

•     Advanced Microsoft PowerPoint, Word and SharePoint skills, including SharePoint content management.

•     Excellent writing, editing and stakeholder management skills.

•     Must be authorized to work in the United States.

•     Must be able to travel to client facilities in the Greater Los Angeles metro and throughout the utility's Southern California service territory for working sessions and as-needed field visits.

•     Must be able to clear utility contractor onboarding, including background check and site safety orientation.

Preferred

•     Experience supporting Prosci or ADKAR-based change programs.

•     Experience with regulated utilities, energy or another CPUC-regulated industry.

•     Experience with Microsoft Sway, video scripting and executive communications.

•     Working knowledge of graphic design and brand standards.

Compensation & Employment

Employment Type: Internal hire. Full-time W-2 employee of Innovation Consulting, deployed as a consultant on client engagements. Contingent on contract award.

Salary: $105K – $138K per year, DOE

Estimated Duration: Ongoing. Work is expected to last up to three years, with potential for renewal.
