Typical Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities
- Safely restraining patients for examinations and procedures
- Assisting veterinarians and technicians during appointments and treatments
- Preparing exam rooms, surgical suites, and treatment areas
- Cleaning, sterilizing, and maintaining medical equipment
- Collecting patient histories and recording medical information
- Assisting with laboratory sample collection and processing
- Administering medications as permitted by state regulations
- Providing compassionate nursing care to hospitalized patients
- Educating clients on basic pet care, medications, and discharge instructions
- Maintaining a clean, organized, and efficient hospital environment
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant required
- Strong animal handling and restraint skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and client service skills
- Positive attitude and strong teamwork skills
- Passion for providing outstanding patient care and continuing to learn
Shift & Schedule Details
This is a full-time position with a consistent weekly schedule and rotating Saturday coverage every other weekend. The hospital values work-life balance and works closely with team members to maintain dependable scheduling.
