2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m. | Outdoor, Active Role | Busy Logistics Yard

This 2nd‑shift role focuses on safely moving, spotting, and backing trailers in a fast‑paced yard environment. You’ll work outdoors in all weather, support loading/unloading, and keep trailer flow running smoothly.

⭐ What You’ll Do

• Move, spot, and back trailers into tight dock doors with precision
• Reposition loaded and empty containers using yard trucks
• Support loading/unloading and perform general yard labor tasks
• Work outdoors in all weather while maintaining safety and pace
• Inspect trailers/containers to confirm product status
• Coordinate trailer moves with warehouse and dock teams
• Follow all safety rules around trucks, trailers, and heavy equipment
• Train on 1st shift to learn yard layout and procedures
• Adapt to rotating weekend and shift schedules

⭐ What Makes You a Great Fit

• 2+ years as a Yard Spotter or Truck Spotter
• Strong backing skills in tight dock areas
• Experience in active yard or dock environments
• Comfortable working outdoors in heat, cold, rain, and snow
• Able to support loading/unloading as part of daily work
• Basic yard‑truck driving skills
• Safety‑minded and aware around heavy equipment
• Reliable and consistent with schedules

⭐ Preferred Experience

• Forklift experience
• Logistics, warehouse, or distribution background
• Comfort with general labor and trailer handling
• Willingness to learn new procedures and shift patterns
• Clear communication with yard and dock teams

⭐ Work Environment

• Outdoor yard work in all temperatures and weather
• Active environment with trailers, containers, yard trucks, forklifts
• Primary schedule: 2:00 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
• Training schedule: 6:00 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
• Rotating weekend hours:
  • Saturday: 5:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.
  • Sunday: 11:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newport News, VA.

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
