Engineering Associate

What We're Looking For:
Barge Design Solutions, Inc. is looking for a Traffic Engineering Associate for our Georgia office. This position will be an embedded employee at the GDOT District Traffic Operations office in either Jesup Georgia or Tennille Georgia. Responsibilities:

• Prepare various types of traffic studies such as traffic engineering studies, Intersection safety analysis, Interchange analysis, assist with corridor planning documents
• Provides Intersection and corridor operational analysis
• Assists with the development of intersection operational improvements
• Prepares traffic signal and signing/pavement marking designs
• Using synchro software develop traffic analysis and help implement signal timing plans
• Participates in project site visits with other project team members as needed
• Assists with transportation planning studies as needed
• Perform and review traffic counts, speed studies, access permits, and safety studies for the Georgia Department of Transportation.
• Prepare and review traffic studies to determine appropriate treatments and traffic control to resolve safety and congestion issues.
• Works with other disciplines such as survey, roadway design, and environmental to increase engineering knowledge and facilitate successful project delivery
• Demonstrates strong attention to detail
• Performs other duties as requested

Education & Experience Qualifications:
Education & Skills

• B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field from accredited university
• 0-3 years transportation or traffic engineering experience preferred
• Knowledge and skill in Microsoft office and excel is a must. Knowledge of Synchro, HCS, VISSIM, ArcGIS, and OpenRoads Designer is desired.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to work on multiple tasks simultaneously
• Basic familiarity with MUTCD and DOT Design Guidelines and Standards
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
