Schedule / Job Type

Contract | 12-Hour Shifts (Days and Nights) | 36 Hours Guaranteed Per Week | Every Other Weekend and Every Other Holiday Required | Sunday–Saturday Work Week

Key Responsibilities

• Provide care for observation-status patients including chest pain, abdominal pain, post-operative cases (hysterectomies, knee scopes, tonsillectomies, appendectomies, hernias), and infusion patients requiring blood or antibiotics
• Manage a high-turnover patient census, including multiple admissions and discharges within a single 12-hour shift, requiring strong organizational skills
• Perform pre- and post-operative patient care, IV starts, Foley catheter insertion, and dressing changes
• Accurately scan and administer medications using a narcotic dispensing system and electronic medication scanning
• Document all patient care using EPIC EMR
• Float to other Medical-Surgical areas on the same rotation schedule as permanent staff, as needed

Required Qualifications

• Active North Dakota RN license or valid Compact RN license
• Current BLS certification
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR
• Experience with IV therapy, Foley catheter care, dressing changes, and standard nursing skills
• Ability to manage a 1:5 RN-to-patient ratio in a fast-paced, high-turnover environment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience caring for observation-status or short-stay surgical patients
• Familiarity with Acudose or similar automated narcotic dispensing systems
• Experience in a high-volume Medical-Surgical or step-down unit
