Role Description

As an employee at a small company there is a wide variety of work to be involved with. This is a hands-on engineering role (~70 – 80% design) with some customer-facing and project coordination responsibilities typical fo a small, high-performing team.

We are looking for a candidate with a strong sense of ownership who wants to work on a broad variety of tasks. You’ll work with a small team to tackle challenges and deliver products. We are looking for someone who can join our small company and work independently and help us grow an incredible team that provides world-class engineering services.

The position is full time. This position is in-person in Lakewood, Colorado. Some travel might be required to visit customer or supplier facilities for coordination, testing, and other activities. Any travel is expected to be <10%.

Tasks

• Design and develop enclosures for avionics and electronics, sometimes with requirements for environmental survivability and ruggedness to meet environmental test requirements.
• Experience with PCBA integration, connector selection, EMI, thermal, and structural protection of PCBA components.
• Experience bonding, ground, sealing and venting of electrical components and enclosures.
• Design and develop rack and enclosure hardware.
• Design and develop tooling and fixtures.
• Create 3D CAD model and assemblies (Creo Pro/E preferred).
• Create part and assembly drawings, installation drawings, and other required technical documentation.
• Incorporate GD&T and drafting best practices.
• Perform tolerance stack analysis.
• Provide inputs for technical proposals including estimating hours and budgets for new projects, and organizing a project development plan.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, or similar, from an accredited university.
• 7 years minimum relevant industry experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.
• Strong sense of ownership with an ability to work independently on large, open-ended projects, and handle problems.
• Able to get work done efficiently, on time and on budget.
• Excellent verbal and oral communication skills.
• Must be a US Person.
• Must pass a background check.

Additional Desirable but Not Mandatory Skills

• Experience working on electrical and electronic systems with high reliability requirements such as the aerospace, space, or medical devices industries.
• Thermal and Structural analysis of avionics enclosures and PCBA components.
• Experience with Steinberg or Engelmeier Solder fatigue calculations.
• Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS preferred).
• Familiarity with harness design per IPC-A-620.

Compensation

$110,500 to $165,000 annual salary. This is a general guideline only, actual salary will be based on candidate’s experience and qualifications, and overall fit with the position.
