Location: Greenville, SC Schedule: Full-Time Shift: Monday–Friday | 7:30 AM–4:00 PM

Job Summary

We are seeking a Cytotechnologist / Cytologist to join a clinical laboratory team in Greenville, SC. This position is responsible for the microscopic examination of cellular specimens to identify abnormal, pre-malignant, and malignant cells and other evidence of disease.

The ideal candidate will have experience screening gynecological and non-gynecological cytology specimens and a strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and patient care.

Responsibilities

• Examine gynecological and/or non-gynecological cytology slides according to established protocols.
• Identify cellular abnormalities and evidence of pre-malignant, malignant, and other disease processes.
• Accurately document and record screening findings in the laboratory computer system.
• Maintain required daily screening records and departmental logs.
• Identify and resolve issues that may adversely affect testing performance or patient result reporting.
• Communicate significant findings, technical concerns, and departmental issues to appropriate laboratory leadership.
• Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshoot methods or equipment as needed.
• Assist with documentation and maintenance of QA/QC programs and quality monitoring activities.
• Maintain established productivity and screening expectations.
• Follow laboratory safety precautions and established departmental procedures.
• Maintain the confidentiality and security of protected health information and other sensitive data.
• Follow applicable regulatory, compliance, privacy, and security requirements.

Qualifications / Requirements

• Minimum of two years of college education and graduation from an approved School of Cytotechnology.
• ASCP certification as a Cytotechnologist (CT) required.
• Appropriate state licensure is preferred, where applicable.
• Minimum of one year of Cytotechnologist experience preferred, including screening of gynecological and non-gynecological specimens.
• Strong microscopic screening and cellular morphology skills.
• Ability to recognize abnormal, pre-malignant, and malignant cellular changes.
• Strong attention to detail with a commitment to accurate and timely results.
• Knowledge of quality assurance, quality control, laboratory safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Must maintain appropriate continuing education for certification and applicable licensure.
