About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a similar unit License: Active RN license in the state of employment Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: 1 year of EPIC experience Description: Shift hours are from 19:00 to 07:30. This position may require floating to other similar units as needed. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend but may change based on staffing needs. The unit primarily cares for patients with higher oxygen demands, dialysis patients, atrial fibrillation, and those post-heart catheterization. This is a step-down unit from intensive care with no ventilator or pressor support available. The unit can administer drips such as heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, and sotolol initiation. Telemonitoring of patients is a significant aspect of this role. The nurse will manage cardiac drips (not for titration) and care for patients requiring telemetry monitoring. Documentation is done using the Epic charting system. Experience with biPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and central line care is preferred. The nurse will be responsible for interpreting arterial blood gases, managing feeding tubes, and starting IVs. Wound care and tracheostomy care are also part of the responsibilities. Team collaboration is essential, with support from physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy among others. This role demands effective communication and documentation to ensure high-quality patient care.
