Telecommunications Cabling Foreman Job Summary
The Telecommunications Cabling Foreman leads low-voltage cabling installations on construction projects, coordinating crews to build, organize, and maintain telecommunications infrastructure. This role oversees installation, termination, and testing of copper, fiber optic, and specialty systems while ensuring high standards of quality, safety, and on-time project delivery.
Pay starts at $35.93.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate cabling crews to ensure safe, efficient project execution
- Plan, build, organize, and maintain telecommunications rooms and infrastructure
- Install cable support systems (cable trays, J-hooks, ladder racks) in compliance with industry standards
- Install Cat6 horizontal cabling, backbone systems, fiber optic cabling, and inner duct
- Install specialty systems including security, CCTV, audio-visual (AV), and fire alarm cabling
- Terminate Cat6 outlets with modular connectors
- Terminate multimode and single-mode fiber using LC and SC connectors
- Perform copper and fiber splicing, including fusion splicing
- Test copper (UTP and coax) and fiber optic systems to verify performance
- Troubleshoot copper and fiber networks to identify and resolve issues
- Safely operate ladders, hand tools, and power tools
- Lift and handle equipment (up to 50 lbs) as required
- Maintain quality standards while meeting project timelines
- Perform general labor related to low-voltage and electrical construction
- Work overtime as required to meet project deadlines
- Minimum 1 year of general construction experience
- Hands-on experience with low-voltage or telecommunications cabling
- Ability to install and organize telecommunications infrastructure and equipment rooms
- Experience installing cable support systems (tray, J-hooks, ladder racks)
- Proficiency running Cat6, backbone, and fiber optic cabling
- Experience with specialty systems (security, CCTV, AV, fire alarm)
- Skilled in terminating copper and fiber (LC/SC; multimode and single-mode)
- Ability to perform copper and fiber splicing, including fusion splicing
- Experience testing and troubleshooting cabling systems
- Comfortable working at heights and on ladders
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Valid driver’s license
- Proficient with hand and power tools
- Willingness to work overtime
- BICSI Installer 1 or 2 Certification (Copper and/or Fiber)
- Manufacturer-specific certifications
- Safety certifications (e.g., Confined Space)
- Prior communications cabling experience
- Fire alarm system experience
- Experience working with crews of 10+ personnel
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Construction environment (indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions)
- Team setting with a crew of approximately 10 personnel
- Frequent use of ladders, hand tools, and power tools
- Handling of cabling, trays, and infrastructure components
- Required PPE: steel-toe boots, hard hat, high-visibility clothing
- Overtime may be required based on project needs
- Temporary assignment (approximately 4 months)
