Job Description
The Material Handler supports manufacturing and warehouse operations by safely moving, storing, and tracking materials using forklifts and related equipment. This role ensures timely delivery of materials to production lines, accurate inventory control, and a clean, organized warehouse environment, directly contributing to efficient production and data center support.
Responsibilities
- Deliver materials to production lines and within the warehouse in a timely and accurate manner.
- Operate sit-down forklifts and other electrically powered material-handling devices safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves following established warehouse procedures.
- Locate, stock, and rotate received materials by receipt date to maintain proper inventory flow.
- Lift heavy objects by hand or with appropriate lifting aids and follow safe material-handling practices.
- Organize and clean the work environment to maintain a safe and efficient warehouse.
- Work under the guidance of warehouse leadership on continuous improvement projects within the warehouse.
- Work under the guidance of material handlers to learn and follow best practices.
- Label and tag items properly to ensure accurate identification and traceability.
- Provide input and suggestions to help remove obstacles that hinder work efficiency.
- Maintain accurate inventory records in accordance with warehouse procedures.
- Assist in maintaining Planning and Production Reports, focusing on fulfilling manufacturing order shortages.
- Assist in maintaining and fulfilling Engineering Change Orders related to material requirements.
- Follow oral instructions and work schedules to determine which materials or containers must be moved to fulfill manufacturing orders.
- Assist in performing daily cycle counts in the stock count module and conduct additional cycle counts as issues arise with production or other departments.
- Assist in posting all inventory-related transactions, including transfers, adjustments, and variances, with a basic understanding of rejection tags, multiple sites, and quantity-on-hand balances.
- Pull jobs and kits for production, and assist with receiving and shipping activities as needed.
- Participate fully in the completion of the yearly physical inventory.
- Use RF scanners and other warehouse technology to support picking, inventory, and general production activities.
- Support general production and assembly tasks as needed to keep manufacturing running smoothly.
Essential Skills
- Previous forklift certification (does not need to be current) with the ability to maintain or renew certification as required.
- Ability to safely operate sit-down forklifts and electrically powered material-handling devices.
- Experience with loading and unloading materials using pallets, trays, racks, and shelves.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects using proper lifting techniques and appropriate lifting aids.
- Basic understanding of warehouse procedures for stocking, rotating inventory, and material flow.
- Ability to follow oral instructions and work schedules accurately to meet manufacturing order requirements.
- Experience with inventory maintenance, including records, cycle counts, and physical inventory participation.
- Ability to use RF scanners or similar devices to support picking and inventory tasks.
- Strong attention to detail when labeling, tagging, and tracking materials.
- Capability to assist with receiving, shipping, and general production support in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Experience working in a manufacturing, assembly, or warehouse environment.
- Familiarity with production reporting and planning tools related to manufacturing orders.
- Basic understanding of Engineering Change Orders and their impact on material requirements.
- Comfort working under the guidance of warehouse and material handling staff and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Willingness to support multiple departments, including production, engineering, and shipping/receiving, as operational needs arise.

Work Environment
This role is based in a manufacturing and assembly warehouse environment focused on supporting production and data center-related operations. You work around material-handling equipment such as sit-down forklifts, RF scanners, pallets, racks, and shelves, and you regularly move and lift materials. The facility emphasizes cleanliness and organization, with ongoing continuous improvement projects in the warehouse. Work is performed on-site during structured shifts, with options such as 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday or 6:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday, and additional shifts such as 6:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday or 5:00 p.m.–3:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday as needed. The environment is production-focused, requiring attention to safety, adherence to warehouse procedures, and readiness to support both assembly and general production activities.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dayton, TN.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
