Business Analyst

Location: Richmond, VA 23219

Work Arrangement: Hybrid – 4 days onsite and 1 day remote per week

Pay Rate: $52–$56/hour (1099)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst IV to support business and systems analysis, requirements documentation, application development, and manual testing for web-based applications. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience gathering and documenting business requirements, working with Agile/Scrum development teams, improving business processes, and validating application functionality through structured testing.

Important Location Requirement: Candidates must be located in Virginia, preferably in Richmond or the surrounding areas. Local Richmond-area candidates will be given priority.

Onsite Requirement: This position requires working onsite four days per week at 102 Governor Street, Richmond, VA 23219, with one remote workday. No exceptions. Candidates must attend the office on their first day to receive equipment and activate their access badge. Parking is not provided for contractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct project initiation activities to identify business problems, project objectives, and application requirements.
• Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements from multiple stakeholders.
• Develop clear, comprehensive, and SDLC-compliant Requirements Definition documents.
• Collaborate with business users, IT teams, developers, and project leadership to ensure requirements are accurately understood and implemented.
• Define, document, and improve business processes, workflows, and system requirements.
• Participate in Agile/Scrum meetings to represent business needs throughout application design and development.
• Develop and execute system test plans and test scripts to validate application functionality against documented requirements.
• Perform manual testing of web applications and verify that business requirements are met.
• Identify, document, and track application defects with sufficient detail for developers to reproduce and resolve issues.
• Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including the preparation of user testing scripts.
• Conduct meetings, document project decisions, and maintain standardized project documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 8 years of experience in business analysis, systems analysis, requirements documentation, SDLC, and Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Minimum 8 years of experience gathering, analyzing, and documenting complex user requirements from multiple sources.
• Minimum 8 years of experience supporting application development, maintenance, implementation, systems design, and business process improvement.
• Minimum 8 years of experience documenting business processes and developing or mapping processes for new systems.
• Strong experience testing complex applications to ensure business requirements are met.
• Experience writing and executing test plans and test scripts.
• Experience conducting stakeholder meetings and documenting project decisions.
• Hands-on experience manually testing web applications and identifying application defects.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, documentation, and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders and technical development teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least 2 years of familiarity with web application development projects using .NET.
• Experience documenting and managing requirements using Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS).
