If you're passionate about shaping AI-first products, we'd love to hear from you.The RoleAs a Staff Engineer, you'll define and implement the core systems powering Synquery. You'll work hands-on across the stack, contribute to architectural decisions, and guide product-aligned engineering efforts.You'll also help establish our technical standards, influence hiring, and mentor teammates. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer excited to wear multiple hats—builder, architect, leader—and make foundational contributions to a fast-moving AI product.ResponsibilitiesBuild Core Systems: Design, implement, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure software solutions.Contribute to the Architecture: Contribute to the technical architecture decisions to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance of our systems.Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Partner with product, design, and ML teams to translate business goals into robust features.Advise and Guide: Provide technical guidance when needed to less experienced engineers and help shape a high-performance, collaborative culture.Innovate: Leverage emerging technologies in AI/ML, generative AI, and hybrid search to enhance product capabilities.Shape Engineering Culture: As a founding team member, influence team practices, tooling, and values from the ground up.QualificationsExperience: 7+ years in full-stack software development, ideally with experience in early-stage or high-growth startups.Technical Stack: Proficiency in Python (FastAPI), TypeScript (Next.js), PostgreSQL, AWS, Docker. Experience with LLM APIs (GPT, Claude, etc.) and/or vector DBs (e.g., Pinecone) is a big plus.Product Mindset: Strong collaboration with product teams, with an ability to balance speed, quality, and user impact.Startup Experience: A dynamic, entrepreneurial approach to problem-solving.
