RN Registered Nurse Emergency Room PRN

Job Summary Registered Nurse coordinates and delivers high quality, patient-centered care in the Emergency Room at HCA Florida Citrus Hospital’s Main Campus (502 W. Highland Blvd., Inverness, FL 34452). The RN works collaboratively with medical providers and members of the care team, delivering individualized, comprehensive care following nursing models such as “Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage.” The role includes advocating for patients, families, and caregivers, and supporting the organization’s vision, mission, and values to contribute to optimal patient experience and clinical outcomes. Responsibilities Assesses patient pain regularly to promote effective pain management, including reassessments after appropriate intervention. Performs procedures, monitoring, or other functions as ordered by the medical provider(s). Documents the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner. Responds promptly to patient requests, striving to anticipate patient needs and resolve them proactively. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about patient medical condition, treatment plan, medications, possible side effects, and follow-up measures, translating complex medical terminology to ensure complete understanding. Teaches patients/families/caregivers about non-medicinal follow-up measures such as healthy diet, exercise, disease prevention, and lifestyle changes; prepares patients and families for future self-management. Qualifications Licensed as a Florida Registered Nurse or holding an appropriate compact license with an active Florida RN license within 60 days of hire. Nursing Diploma or ASN required; BSN preferred. Minimum one year of prior Emergency Room RN experience required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required within 6 months of hire/transfer. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and/or Emergency Nurse Pediatric Course (ENPC) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer. Current National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC), and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications required within 6 months of hire/transfer. Current Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training required within 6 months of hire. National Board Certification (CEN) highly preferred. Strong critical thinking, service excellence, good interpersonal communication skills, ability to read/comprehend written instructions, follow verbal instructions, and PC skills.
