This job opportunity is in Driver License Services in DESOTO COUNTY, MS. This is an entry-level Customer Service Representative who is accountable for assisting customers with obtaining a full range of services by providing information and applying a variety of laws, rules, policies, procedures, and program requirements. Examples of work performed include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Conducts visual tests to determine the sight qualifications of each applicant for a driver's license.
• Administers computer-automated tests for drivers seeking a permit or driver's license and ascertains if the application is in accordance with established department policies.
• Assists the public in issuing and renewing regular Mississippi driver's licenses.
• Assists the public in issuing and renewing Mississippi commercial driver's licenses, including medical records and Haz-Mat (hazardous material) endorsements.
• Issues identification cards and driver's licenses for U.S. and non-U.S. citizens.
• Issues temporary learner's permits for individuals fourteen (14) years of age.
• Issues regular learner's permits for individuals fifteen (15) years and older.
• Interprets statutes, rules, and regulations governing the Department of Public Safety.
• Responsible for documenting the necessary paperwork regarding the suspension and reinstatement of all driver's licenses.
• Submits statistical reports of examinations regarding driver's license issuance.
• Prepares daily reports of licenses issued and monies received.
• Compiles, analyzes, updates, verifies, and disseminates data from various agencies, the public, court departments, and other sources; and promotes these sources to maintain the exchange of pertinent information among other state records.
• Issue firearm permits, fingerprint customers, and process all relevant firearm permit documents.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

• Preferred Qualifications: Typically requires High School Diploma or equivalent and 0-1 years of experience. Hiring agency additional qualifications: The employee is required to possess a valid driver's license.
