Respiratory Care Practitioner

Summary: To render highly professional and technical cardiopulmonary care to assignedpatients. Provides quality diagnostic and therapeutic care to achieve the highest standards of care specific to the age of the patient. Responsibilities: Patients and families are served in providing direct patient care services. Performs duties and conducts interpersonal relationships in a manner designed to project a positive image of the department and hospital. Ensures that contact with physicians and other customers are conducted in a manner that displays superior customer service. Other information: Qualifications: Education Requirements: Certificate of completion from an American Medical Association Accredited Respiratory Therapy Program possessing CRT certification and licensed by the North Carolina Board of Respiratory Care. All RRT therapists required to be RRT credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care maintain the requirements necessary to retain the designation. Professional Experience Requirement: One year experience in a Respiratory Care hospital type setting preferred. Licensure/Registration/Certification: Must be licensed by the state of North Carolina as a Respiratory Care Practitioner. All RRT RCP therapists by RRT credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care. They are required to maintain that status. Knowledge Skills and Abilities Requirements: Good interpersonal and communication skills demonstrated understanding of patient care needs according to the developmental stages for various age groups. BCLS training required. ACLS and NRP strongly encouraged. Strong Customer Focus. Work Environment: Exposure to blood borne pathogens infectious and contagious diseases requiring the use of personal protective equipment. Contact with cleaning agents chemicals and some toxic chemicals may also require use of PPE. Subject to stressful work periods and long irregular hours. Physical Requirement: Walking and standing throughout shift lifting patients daily with assistance. Pushes and/or pulls or carries equipment throughout shift.
