A dietary cook in a nursing home prepares safe, nutritious meals tailored to the specific health and medical needs of elderly residents . [1, 2]

Key Responsibilities

Special Diets: Follow precise guidelines for residents with conditions like diabetes, heart disease, or swallowing difficulties (pureed or mechanical soft diets).
Recipe Adherence: Follow strict, dietitian-approved cycle menus rather than creating freeform recipes.
Food Safety: Maintain clean workstations, practice safe food handling, and track inventory or supplies.
Team Collaboration: Work alongside dietary aides, nurses, and registered dietitians to monitor resident nutritional health. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7]
