Special Education Teaching Assistant

Support students in small groups or 1:1 settings Assist students with assignments, homework, and projects Adapt materials and provide modifications to help students learn Help students understand and follow classroom rules Monitor student behavior to ensure safety and appropriate interactions Implement behavior management strategies Support students in developing social skills, appropriate interactions, and positive behaviors Assist with de-escalating student behaviors and request support as needed Reinforce SDI concepts already in effect Help students with transitions and activities Support personal hygiene needs including toileting, feeding, and dressing Support mobility and adaptive equipment Provide general clerical support for the ESS Team Attend meetings and training sessions Help maintain a clean and organized work area Provide a supportive and positive learning environment Requirements High school degree or higher required Experience in special education Excellent oral and written communication skills Interest in reading great books US work authorization required Successful criminal history background check and fingerprint clearance required Ability to perform standing, sitting, repetitive hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching Ability to move or position equipment up to approximately 15 pounds Educational Aide certification I, II, or III preferred Associate's degree or higher preferred Core Competencies Demonstrates the ability to support students in special education settings by implementing behavior management strategies, adapting materials, and fostering a positive learning environment.
