Horticultural Assistant / Fine Gardener

Seeking an experienced gardener to assist in all aspects of garden maintenance (vegetable and formal) on a 8-acre property in New Canaan. This is a seasonal part time position reporting to the Head Gardener. We are open to candidates with less experience who demonstrate a willingness to learn and take instruction. Responsibilities include: Planting, dividing, weeding, mulching, pruning, deadheading and fertilizing using best horticultural practices. Monitor for pests and disease and report findings Monitor irrigation system and report any problems Hand water floral containers and vegetable garden area Maintain a neat and orderly work space Required Skills and Qualifications: Ideally, 1-2 years of hands‑on, gardening experience. We will train Ability to work outside in all types of weather for 8 hours per day Must be self‑motivated, dependable and able to manage time efficiently and execute tasks independently Ability to lift 30 pounds (including up/down stairs and hills).
