Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: Obstetrics (OB) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM) Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience License: - State RN License in good standing Certifications: - BLS (American Heart Association) - NRP (American Heart Association) Must-Have: - Patient Assessment - Infant Care - Nursing Care Documentation - Plan of Care Development - Nursing Interventions Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided is essential. The RN will assure the integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Completes initial assessments upon patient admission. Develops an appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards. Plans of care are based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Modifications to the plan of care are based upon continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety. Safety hazards and incidents must be reported and/or corrected. Effective communication with others is necessary to resolve issues. Constructive feedback is offered to assist in the professional development of peers. Confer with colleagues to expand knowledge base. Identifying own learning needs and taking the initiative to begin appropriate solutions is important. Fulfills all requirements of departmental competencies. Performs patient assessments. Provides infant care. Completes all unit competencies. Administers medications per physician orders. Documents all care in electronic medical records (EMR).
